Out and About

Building a better world

For many years now, Fresenius Kabi South Africa has been deeply committed to improving the lives of others both at home in South Africa, and also throughout the African continent. Once again proving this point, while in Zambia early in 2009, the sales and marketing staff of FKSA got their hands dirty in aid of the Nakatindi Community School and the Manu Mbwani Community School.

Starting off, the group broke up into two teams each tackling one of two different projects, comprising the building of classrooms at the Nakatindi Community School and painting at the Manu Mbwani Community School. Said one FKSA staffer: “It was a truly rewarding experience. It is completely different to donating money… We actually got to see and experience the effects of our work on the community.”

Said another: “We often take for granted that schools and clinics and basic services exist around us. But it is only once you see the joy on these children’s faces, realising that they too will have proper classrooms, that you realise education is a privilege to many, and everyone deserves to have such an opportunity. I am thrilled that I could be of some assistance to them.” Concluded Wilna Stapelberg, MD Fresenius Kabi South Africa, and brainchild behind the company’s various social responsibility programmes: “We believe that taking part in these activities is more than corporate social responsibility. At Fresenius Kabi South Africa lending a hand to help our fellow brothers and sisters, is about creating a better world, and future for everyone.”
